34/365 Puzzling Time!

I recently created a Monday through Friday schedule for the kids at home.  I got tired of hearing "I want something to eat" and "I want to watch a show" every five minutes.  So I created a schedule so I could show the kids when they would be able to have a snack or watch a TV show.  I also took advantage of this schedule to throw in some other activities such as a reading or puzzle time.  Initially, it was just a book time until I mentioned it and Jackson said, "YEAH!  Just like at school I have book or puzzle time!"

Today was our first day on the new schedule and I think I'm going to like this.  Here is a photo of puzzle time!

33/365 The effects of Scotch-Guard!

This morning, when we were about to get ready for church, I picked up Molly and discovered a rather unpleasant smell.  But it wasn't a normal little kid bad smell.  I intended to just wipe her down with some wet wipes until Jason discovered the smell somewhere else.  It was a bottle of scotch-guard carpet cleaner and it was leaking on the carpet.  Not long after his discovery, I figured out why Molly smelled.  She had laid in it.  The back of her head was soaked with Scotch-Guard!

Away to the bathtub we went!  With a screaming little girl in one arm and the shower head in the other hand, I washed her hair.  I thought she would be happier to not have to take a bath, but I was proven wrong by her screaming, "LET GO OF ME!" over and over again.

Anyway, I got her clean, dried most of her hair with the towel and got her dressed.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a comb to her hair before it had completely dried and she ended up looking like this, all day long!  :)

32/365 Harlem Ambassadors!

Friday night, our local Relay for Life team had a fund raiser at the high school.  They challenged the Harlem Ambassadors to a "friendly" game of basketball.  I was excited to be able to take Jackson, just the two of us, since usually that's the sort of thing Daddy gets to do.  We had so much fun!  We arrived early and were able to find seats right at the front.

In case you haven't already figured it out, the Harlem Ambassadors are similar to the Harlem Globe Trotters, but on a smaller scale.  The team was made of four men and two women.  (I was pleased to hear that one of the women was from Milwaukee).  There was lots of dancing, plenty of pranks, with a basketball game thrown in the mix.

At half time, all the kids got to line up on the court for more dancing.  Initially, Jackson wasn't willing to put down his M&M's, but after seeing so many kids on the court, he was on his feet.  I'd like to say he was dancing, but he does like the ladies and, as soon as one of the female Harlem players came over to dance with him, he froze.  But he froze with a smile on his face. :)  It was hilarious.  That girl tried so hard to get him to dance.  With only a minute or so left of the song, she finally saw his feet stomping and he just couldn't keep still any longer.

A little WWE on the court!

Even with these distractions, this guy made BOTH free throw shots!

It was dance time!

Nope, not gonna do it!

Giving her "five" after the dance party!

Trying to hide from the ref after a foul.

So, at the BEGINNING of the half, the score was 15-51.  At the END of the half, it became 61-51.  The decided to give the home team a 10 point lead to start off the second half.

In spite of the 10 point lead.... the game still ended 79-102.  I figured out that, if they hadn't given them the extra points, the game really would have ended as 33-102.  I think this score looks a lot better. :)

31/365 Bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles!

The weather is getting beautiful and we are getting outside!  And, for these kids, the great outdoors means bubble time!  Of course, Benny loves to get in on the bubble action as well.  Jackson couldn't wait to get outside.  Molly...well...she just might be a vampire with the way she reacts to the sun. :)  I suppose that just means I won't have to worry much about sunburns.

30/365 Zoo Day

I must say, New Mexico weather never ceases to delight me (except the random snow and cold for a few days).  Lately, it has been getting into the 70's!  This would be sometime I am not at all use to.  Shorts in February???

Anywho, we couldn't spend a beautiful day indoors.  So we headed out to the zoo.

Feeding the ducks and swans.

This is what I get for saying, "smile!"

They held hands the rest of the way down every time one of them went down the slide.  :)

29/365 The Carnival is Here!

Yesterday, Jason and the kids discovered the carnival was in town this weekend.  We had agreed that, if Mommy was feeling better, we would all go Sunday afternoon.

Well, Mommy was feeling better, but Molly now has the flu.  :(  Poor girl.  So, the boys went to the carnival and Daddy promised to bring home some ice cream for Molly.  Thankfully, that made her happy.

The boys heading off to the carnival!

Jackson went down this slide eight times!

Poor little Molly had to stay home. :(

But Jackson was a wonderful big brother and he won a froggy and a velvet rose for Molly at the carnival.  She was SOOOOOO happy to receive them!

28/365 Yellow!

As most moms know, sometimes you just go through the day on autopilot.  Today started off as one of those days.  Kids were playing happily.  Then came lunch time.  I decided to take it easy and make a couple kids TV dinners.  As I was about to put them in the oven, it struck me.  "What a yellow meal!"
You know how you're suppose to eat different colors?  Well, whoever designed this meal did NOT get that memo.  See for yourself!

27/365 Can We Build It? Yes, We Can!

We just recently started to bring Molly to the Lowes Build-and-Grow workshops.  Jackson has been going with Jason for months.  Here are some photos of the kids hard at work!

I love how Jackson concentrates with his tongue hanging out!
